More details to this question:
My parents made an agreement that my dad would pay child support until i turn 18 if im not in college or until i turn 21 if i am in college. Im 19 and enrolled in college in VT but i technically live in NY . My dad, for what ever reason, thinks that because im 18 and legally an adult he should write the checks out to me and not my mom. Ive looked around the internet and every source said the same thing: child support gets payed to the mother. I don't know if he doesn't trust me or the 50 sources i showed him. He wants a word with a lawyer. I dont know how this website works, can i have your name and some credentials as well as the child support answer?

Child support should be paid to the parent, not the child. Not sure about the particulars, but your Dad may also be entitled to a credit for the room and board against the child support amount. If your dad has questions, he should find a lawyer. Good luck.
