QUESTION

Will I be able to fight for custody?

Asked on Sep 23rd, 2015 on Family Law - New York
More details to this question:
My daughters mother served me with court papers because she wants full custody. Truthfully i have not been helping her financially for almost a year now and i have not paid my child support. I have my daughter on the weekend but her mother and i can never come to an agreement. Will i still have a chance to keep joint custody?

Support and custody issues are handled most often by different judges, and the two rarely intersect. However, if your failure to pay ordered support is willfull, or if you are harming your child by failing to pay that may be an argument used against you.
