QUESTION

Will I lose custody by moving to another state?

Asked on Aug 19th, 2015 on Child Custody - Michigan
More details to this question:
I have joint custody with my ex, my fiancé has a job in another state. I don’t have anywhere to stay there. I have family in another state and my ex won’t let me take my children aged 4 and 2. How do I go about getting my kids to be able to come out here? How hard will it be? Am I going to lose custody?

You have asked a number of questions but provided insufficient facts upon which to form an opinion. You should consult with a family practitioner, answer their questions and thereby be able to receive a reasoned opinion based upon the relevant facts. Generally persons have to move for various and good reasons all the time. Changes have to be made in the custody arrangements but generally the rights of the parents to their children are protected by the courts as much as possible.
