Can a hotel call your employer?

More details to this question:
Staying at a hotel and the young receptionist and I had some verbal words. She was rude and we went back and forth. Later she contacted my employer with her marriott email to complain. We were not even working. Is this ok?

There is no bar on a hotel or anyone else calling your employer to complain about you, as long as they don't defame you by making false staements of fact (not opinion, for example, stating the opinion that you were rude is not defamatory, even if you don't think you were) which damage yuor reputation.
