Can I charge storage on a vehicle left on my property

More details to this question:
A friend was buying a vehicle did not make the first payment and ended up in jail he has been in jail since may I called the financial company explaining this told them where the vehicle was and that they could come and get it now it has been there almost 3 months they finally contacted my wife about it yesterday and said that I could not charge storage because it is on private property.

I am assuming that you are talking about trying to charge the finance company for storage. You can charge storage but only if you let them know in advance that this is what you are going to do. I would let them come and get the car off of your property without charging storage.
