Theoretically, the vehicle owner could be liable to you if they are found to have been negligent by leqving the doors of the vehicle open, and this negligence is found to have caused your damage.  Your recovery could also be reduced if it is found that you were contributorily negligent by failing yourself to ensure that the doors were locked.
