QUESTION

Can I sue an fellow employee for my termination from VA?

Asked on Oct 11th, 2013 on General Practice - Minnesota
More details to this question:
A fellow co worker made allegations of an assault by me (pinching of arm, leaving a bruise and use of profanity) Problem is, the alleged incident was witnessed by 3 other people who where 5 feet away and say it did not happen as that person stated in her police report. Also, that person used her aunts influence as an executive sitting on the board convened, to fire me. I have no criminal history, have 3 honorable discharges from the Military, and have worked at VA for 3+ years with excellent ratings. I feel that an injustice is occuring here. Please help!

If your co-worker lied with the intent of getting you fired, he/she could be deemed to have tortiously interfered with your employment contract, and be liable to you for the damages you've suffered, and possibly for punitive damages.  However, there are numerous obstacles to your potential success on your claim in court.
