Can I sue my roomates for simple assault?

My roomates are on my lease. They don't like a guest that says over at my apartment 3 days a week (which is okay as per the lease agreement). One morning at 7am they came out and started playing loud music in the common area. When I came out, one of them rushed at me and yelled at me in her face with her fists curled up calling me racial slurs (we are Caucasian) and told my guest to get out over and over again when he was in my room. We locked ourselves in the room for about an hour until they left, as we were scared to even leave. We filed a police report later that night because we had final exams earlier and had no time to go at the time of the incident. What's worse, I overheard them telling their mother on the phone that we attacked them. Later that week they called the apartment complex and said that I had an illegal tenant living with me, who then threatened to evict me. They lied and said that my guest was there for months at a time even though hes only over 3 days a week.
