QUESTION

Can my husband sue for work performed

Asked on Feb 11th, 2015 on General Practice - New Jersey
More details to this question:
My husband installed a brand new heating system/AC system in an addition on my mothers home. He did this while living there. He also re-routed the existing AC for the lower level. He subsequently had his children immigrate here and was told he and his sons could not live at the house.

Your husband must make an economic decision. Your husband must compare the cost of the installation of the heating system with the cost for an attorney. If the cost of the installation of the heating system is $10,000, your husband has to decide how much he wants to pay an attorney to get the $10,000 back from the person that didn't pay the monies. Retainer fee would most likely be at least $5000 to prepare a complaint and move towards trial. The goal would be to settle before trial. The cost for the trial could be an additional $5000 to $10,000. We have an attorney here who only does construction law. He is excellent. However, the cost for a certified trial attorney with a construction background is expensive. Please call to discuss if you would like to pursue litigation or the threat of litigation.
