QUESTION

Can my lawyer charge me past the retainer amount without notifying me?

Asked on Jan 24th, 2017 on General Practice - New Jersey
More details to this question:
I signed an attorney client agreement that had hourly rates, initial retainer amount etc. in it. In this document it said I would be notified in writing if my lawyer was going to spend more than the initial retainer. I found out today my lawyer has significantly gone over the retainer amount and did not notify me, even though I requested an update 3 separate times through email which he acknowledged. Is there anything I can do about this? Thanks

If your matter is concluded you can go to Fee Arbitration.  Here is a link to the portion of the New JErsey Judiciary website where you can find more information about that.  http://www.judiciary.state.nj.us
