Many of the sites obtain information that is not realy personal.  There is a lot of information already on the internet that you think should be private or pesonal and is not.  For example, birth marriage and death records, property ownership, any papers filed in court, all become public information.  Information you post on a social media site is supposed to stay restricted to the people you authorize to see it.
