Can someone take back a dog they gave as a gift?

More details to this question:
My son was GIVEN a puppy as a gift. Now after 3 months teenage girl and mom wants dog back after she broke up with him. Do we have to give him back?

No a gift is a gift so long as it is a gift. The gratuitous giving of a gift transfers ownership to the recipient so long as it was not a conditional gift which required future performance.
