More details to this question:
I went to cashier line and didn't use self-chrckout. The cashier half bagged my items and I was in a hurry to leave. Store employee from self-checkout followed me and asked for a receipt as soon as I was about to walk out. I looked and I didn't have one (I thought she gave me one). I told employee that I can show where I went. I ended up asking for my items to be returned. Long story short, another customer who as behind me told me to check my phone on their app for a receipt. I showered proof and the employee never apologized, only the assist store manager and not the store manager. I was embarrassed and shaking. Can I file a civil lawsuit for slander?

YOu probably do not have a case but, I would lodge a complaint with the store telling them how you feel and that you will not be returning to their store.
They will probably give you a gift certificate as an apology.
ALWAYS get a paper receipt at any store.
