More details to this question:
I was caught shoplifting makeup in Walmart which cost $25. No police were involved. A few weeks letter I received a letter from a lawyer representing Walmart stating I owe them $150 in civil demands. Do I have to pay this? I heard if I do, my name goes into a shoplifting data base, which I don't want to happen. What happens if I don't pay this?

i would pay the $150 in civil demands and use this to negotiate a dismissal or downgrade of the shoplifting charge. ed dimon
