Does hiring a lawyer make my name change process easier

More details to this question:
I previously filed a petition myself but had to close the case because I had to make a drive down to 5 different jurisdictions to get lein mortgage checks and was unable to take the time off work. If I hire a lawyer will I still have to do this?
