QUESTION

garnishing wages

Asked on Nov 28th, 2017 on General Practice - New Jersey
More details to this question:
I gave my niece thru marriage my social security number, I did not know she was using it for a student loan for both of her sons, so now I am responsible for a 32000.00 student loan for both of her sons, I would like to know if their wages can be garnished to pay for their own loans, they are twins and both are working, they are 25 or 26 years old. Sallie Mae is starting to take money our of my checking account to pay for these loans. I would appreciate any advice you can give me, or do you give a free consultation. Thank you Marion Barnes

Update Your Profile
You should make sure that you have all the student loan documentation and can prove what happened. If fraud was committed, you have a defense. You could use the fraud to have your relatives pay the debt. Why are they not paying ? What is their understanding of what happened ? Ed Dimon, Esq. 732-797-1600
