There is not really enough information to respond to this question.  If you have something in your possession that you do not want to keep, you can return it to the owner, or advise the owner if he or she does not pick up the property, you will dispose of it.  If you are going to send such a notice, send it certified mail so that the person cannot claim it was not received.
