How do I became the ex Executor over my bothers estate?

More details to this question:
My bother lived I. Los Angeles CA; he passed on this week. He sent me a short note saying he made t his Beneficiary I contacted his insurance company to let them know, but the told me he made estate as beneficiary. I was told the only way to get insurance is to become executor of his estate. He was never married and he did not have children. What can I do ? need help.

You would start a court proceeding to probate his will or, if there is no will, to administer his estate, and you would ask the Court to apppoint you as executor (if there is a will) or administrator (if not) of the estate.  Some of these terms may be different in California, but the basic idea is the same.  It is probably a good idea to contact a Califronia estates attorney to help you.
