QUESTION

Legality of selling laser components, NOT laser diodes

Asked on May 24th, 2022 on General Practice - Michigan
More details to this question:
For example, would there be any issues for someone like to go on eBay and sell all kinds of laser components, but not diodes? I personally would not be manufacturing anything that would be on the eBay store from laser drivers to lenses, switches, and everything in between. I read something about falling under some sort of law if I am selling more than one of an item to more than one customer and possibly having legal issues.

Certain components that can be used for nuclear and advanced weapon systems are controlled under US law. Additionally, eBay has its own rules of what can and cannot be sold (weapons are not permitted). Where you also face issues is shipping to other countries because certain goods are not permitted to be sold to Iran, N. Korea etc. One would have to know a lot more about what you are selling to advise you more.
