More details to this question:
Hello My husband recently passed away in October 2016 . He was a retiree of Catapillar . Glenn had set up his pension for Catapillar to take out extra amount of money so in the event that he passed away before me I would get 100% of his monthly pension . I have the dates and paperwork open this went into affect in 1985 . Catapillar's retirement pension is handled by a third-party Hewitt . Hewitt claims Glenn only opted for 55% of monthly compensation . I want to get a lawyer to represent me to get Catapillar to find the documents from 1985 when Glenn had changed the pension plan. Can someone help me with this matter?

when a person opts to select a survivor benefit on a pension plan, it usually provides a reduced benefit during their lifetime, and guarantees that in the event of their death, that same benefit continues to insure that the surviving spouse continues to receive that same benefit. An example might be that if you don't' chose the survivor benefit, you would receive $3,000 per month during your lifetime, but that benefit would terminate upon the employee's death. If you opt for the survivor benefit, it would be reduced to $2,500 per month during their lifetime, and continue in that same amount after they pass. What was the amount your husband was receiving during his lifetime and what amount are they saying now you are going to receive?
