At the moment, i have no legal will and if something should happen to me I want to be assured my personal collection of old books and other collectibles will be protected as my next of kin have no interest in these and may dispose of them

Is there someone who you want to inherit your collection, someone whom you believe will care for it as you do? If so, execute a will leaving your collection to that person or organization.
