Over the past two years, a group of individuals have been using their custom exhaust systems and stereo systems to inflict high levels of unwanted noise on every residence they pass. Decibel loggers show a number of incidents where noise emitted from these vehicles approached level required for acoustical trauma at distances greater than 100 feet. Numerous complaints have been made to the Sherriff's Department and I met with the County Liaison to out community. Resource constraints make the probability of an officer being on the scene very low. The current law requires an officer to be a witness to the event. This leaves residences without legal recourse. Are there any legal actions that may be taken to address such an issue. Complaints to the Sherriff only result in retaliatory drive-byes that typically start within one hour of the complaint. No citations or warnings seem to be issued. I have numerous HD videos and decibel logs and am considering going to the press.
