I am assuming that the parties were engaged and now it is off, so the question who is entitled to it.  Putting aside the birthday, if the engagement is off, and it was not given on a holiday (birthday, christmas, etc), the former boyfriend gets it back. However, because the ring was provided on a birthday, it is considered a gift and it is your daughters to keep based upon the facts you provided. Please feel to contact me for a free consultation.
