How can I get my rent due balance lowered?

More details to this question:
My apartment complex set me up with credit card auth so they're able to take my rent every month but after my first month they stopped taking it. They now have a website where I can make payments on my own but I now owe them over $5,000 I just want to know if I can get that down to a certain amount

You can contact the landlord or management company and offer to negotiate the balance due for a one lump sum payment or you can hire counsel to negotiate for you.
