10 years deportation

More details to this question:
I was deported for 10 years and my 10 years are done. My question is can I go back and apply for a visa to be able to travel or it will be better if my son can file a petition for me he is in the military service he is a Sargent. back then I sing for voluntary deportation I was a legal resident in the us in the process of my citizenship. can you please advice me what will be better for me thank you

The answer will depend upon what led to the U.S. Government seeking your removal from the country. We're you convicted of a crime or accused of fraud? The answer will depend upon what happened in the past that caused you to lose your residence.
