More details to this question:
I got married with u.s citizen I wanna apply for adjustment my status. The question is my wife's income is less she can't be my sponsor and my brother in law wants to be my sponsor. His household is 4 with me 5 it means his income should be $34.000 but his income is $24,000 but his girlfriend household member also has income $12,000 they work together she got job couple month ago. She doesn't have tax return at all. If she get official latter from work can they be my sponsor ? Thanks

A "household member" (a term used on the form but not in the statute) is someone whose income is pooled with the principal sponsor for purposes of determining household income, but then a qualifying family or tax dependent relationship is required. See 8 CFR 213a.1. This person would complete Form I-864A.  A girlfriend would not qualify as a "household member" even if she is living in the household.  On the remaining point, proof of current income can be shown with pay stubs and a letter from an employer.
