QUESTION

Can I apply for DACA with misdemeanor DUI class A?

Asked on Jan 15th, 2014 on Immigration - Texas
More details to this question:
In 2011, I was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and was convicted of an offense class A misdemeanor. Therefore, I was handed over to immigration issues and now I am in the process of elimination. I want to know if DACA may be an option to solve the problem of deportation. I came to the United States when I was 15 years old. I graduated from high school, I'm a dreamer. Please help.

Unfortunately, a conviction for DUI/DWI makes you ineligible for DACA. However, you may be eligible for other forms of relief in immigration court such as cancellation of removal depending on the circumstances of your case.
