My mother thought she filed for my citizenship in 1998 when I was 19 years old but it turns out she didn't. We now learned that she was granted citizenship together with my brother. Is it possible to make an amendment to the filing from back then? What form would I file?
Do you really mean citizenship or do you mean green card? If you are already a green card holder (permanent resident) and did not automatically naturalize when your mother became a US citizen because of your age, you can apply for US citizenship on your own provided you have satisfied the requirement for so doing.
Naturalization cases like yours will involved a lot of procedural and factual history. I highly recommend that you do not handle this by yourself as there are generally very specific ways to handle cases like this. Only someone who has completely reviewed your file will be able to determine what your options are moving forward. Please seek counsel from a competent immigration attorney at www.aila.org or via your local chapter of your state bar.
