I am turning 21 soon. I wanted to know if I can help my mother get her papers if she came here illegally. I would also like to know how long will it take and what is the process with this.

I am assuming that you are a U.S. citizen. When you are 21, you can petition you mother. There are many documents that must be filed with the USCIS including an I-130, I-485, Affidavit of Support and supporting documentation. Your mother may also need to go back to her home country for consular processing.

if you are US citizen you can file immigrant visa petition for your mother after you turn 21. However if your mother came here illegally or entered without inspection, she cannot adjust status unless she is 245i protected. She must leave the US and she may need waiver to come back. You should consult with immigration lawyer for help.

It depends on many factors: how your mom came to the country; does she need a waiver? was she in immigration proceedings? You need to consult with an attorney.
