Of course you can, but what if the lawyer actually says the truth? I think you should make an info pass appointment

You should schedule an appointment with a competent and experienced attorney, Who will take the time to review all the facts before you file the application. You may have to pay for the appointment, but that money is usually subtracted from the fee. In general, it's unclear whether you qualify for citizenship by naturalization. It is possible that the attorney may have filed something that was destined for denial. An appointment and clarify whether you should file for naturalization. You may have to request prosecutorial discretion. You may also have to wait. An experienced attorney should know the difference and explain before filing. Good luck. The above is general information, not legal advice, and does not create an attorney-client relationship.

You definitely can fire your present attorney and hire another attorney to help you. I should note that in my experience, it is not unusual for USCIS to lose a file. It does happen.
