QUESTION

Can I still be accepted for deferred action?

Asked on Apr 13th, 2013 on Immigration - New York
More details to this question:
I applied for deferred action about 3 weeks ago, but yesterday I got caught shoplifting (yes stupid, I know). I'm 15 years old currently and I will pay all the fines, go to court, and complete the 8 hours of counseling. Would I still be eligible for the deferred action despite this stupid mistake?

You should still be eligible for deferred action with a one-time conviction for misdemeanor shoplifting as long as you are not sentenced to more than 90 days in jail.

Yes, it is possible they will still approve you. USCIS examines offenses committed by a minor on a "case-by-case" basis.
