I have hired a consultant to adjust my status in the US, it all start good until he starts ignoring me and not replying my emails, my case has been with the USCIS for a while now and i dont know whats going on with it and my lawyer after i finish paying him all his fees he closed my file and he unrepresented me, so he is not my legal representative anymore, i asked for my money back and he said he won't give me anything as he file my case and that was the price of filing the case, we have a contract and the contract say that he should do a lot of stuff other than just filing my case to get that amount of money, i was wondering can i take a legal action against her?
If you have a contract and the immigration consultant is in violation of it, you would appear to have remedies. If the consultant is an attorney, you can go to the state bar disciplinary committee and lodge a complaint. If not an attorney, you can go to the Better Business Bureau, or consumer affairs, and some states or locales even provide a complaint process with the District Attorney's Office.Due to the limitations of the Lawyers.com Forums, Alan Lee, Esq.'s (the "Firm") participation in responding to questions posted herein does not constitute legal advice, nor legal representation of the person or entity posting a question.
