More details to this question:
I have a God-son who just turned 1 in December. Both his mother & father are alive and well and working. As his God-father, I wanted to know if I could legally use that in court as a reason not to be deported. I am in removal proceedings. I had a court case last year in June and I have another one this year in July where I might be deported. I have been in the states since 2008 march. Came on a student visa but only did 2&1/2 years in college. Also, what other options (other then marriage) do I have to stay or buy more time?
Having a godson will unfortunately not keep you in this country where both his mother and father are alive and well. If you have a well-founded fear of persecution in going back to your home country or if you have been persecuted there, you may submit an application for asylum/withholding of removal. You may also be eligible to apply for political asylum if there is a change of circumstance in your situation which could subject you to persecution in your home country. Other than those or marriage, there do not appear to be other options open although you may hope that something happens in Congress to allow some form of comprehensive immigration reform during the time that you are fighting your removal proceedings.Due to the limitations of the Lawyers.com Forums, Alan Lee, Esq.'s (the "Firm") participation in responding to questions posted herein does not constitute legal advice, nor legal representation of the person or entity posting a question.
