More details to this question:
Hello .. I did hold a green card back in 2008 and did give up my status on 2010 , now i am back on a B1 visa and received a great job offer and they want to pay me checks through my SSC because it's still working as they said , am I allowed to do that while I am transferring my visa to a student visa in the next 3 months ? Thank you in advance

No. Your old SSN may be valid but you are not authorized to work. You abandoned your green card. A non-citizen or non-resident alien requires either employment authorization or a nonimmigrant status that authorizes employment. An alien is not authorized to work on B-1 nonimmigrant status. You would need to obtain a visa or nonimmigrant status that authorizes employment. You can read more about work visas at http://myattorneyusa.com/work-visas.
