Can my cousin sponsor me?

Asked on Aug 19th, 2014 on Immigration - Texas
More details to this question:
I have been in the United States for 5 years now. I came here on a student visa and I am still a student legally. I got married and my wife is a US citizen but she does not work right now. Can my cousin sponsor me for the green card? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Your cousin, assuming they are a US citizen or Permanent Resident, can co-sponsor your spouse's application.

Your cousin can be a joint sponsor with your wife, provided (s)he meets the financial requirements for the Affidavit of Support.

Yes your cousin can act as a sponsor. But he needs to have the necessary income and documentation to do so.

A cousin cannot properly file a visa petition for their cousin. However, your USA citizen wife can file for her husband, and a cousin could do an I-864 co-sponsor affidavit of support.
