More details to this question:
My ex husband was abusive and went to jail for that reason twice. However, he was deported because he overstayed his visa. Will he be allowed back?

If he was twice convicted of domestic abuse it is highly unlikely he would be granted residency, even if he married an American citizen that petitioned for him.
