Can my husband come to Australia if he has a record?

More details to this question:
My partner is currently serving a 2 year sentence in Oregon for unlawful use of a motor vehicle I am from Australia I am coming over when he is released to get married and was wondering if he would be able to come back with me into Australia especially if we end up having children? Or should I just move there I already have a 6 yr old son we are both Australian residents.

His conviction would probably not prevent him from leaving the country. The State Department can deny a U.S. passport to citizens who have certain convictions, but unlawful use of a motor vehicle is not a conviction that would require an automatic denial. As for whether Australia would accept him, you would need to consult with an Australian lawyer.
