QUESTION
Can you request adjustment on the residence since date?
Asked on Aug 13th, 2013 on Immigration - Mississippi
More details to this question:
I've been approved for permanent residence but the approval was delayed by about a year because of errors on USCIS end. I first received an "intent to deny" letter which stated I left US without authorization which was not true. We sent our response and I finally got approved about a year later. My problem is that the "residence since" date is more than a year after my priority date because of this delay. Is there any way to get the "residence since" date adjusted based on the fact that this was a USCIS mistake? This will shorten my wait for citizenship. Thanks for your advice.

You only become a green card on the day your adjustment of status was completed. You cannot change that date. Its not going to happen

This date is displayed in your permanent resident card.
