Change of status

Asked on May 15th, 2016 on Immigration - Arkansas
More details to this question:
Hello, I'd like to know if after I've being denied of a change of status, I can try another one... Here's the thing: I'm actually in a J1 visa, it'll expires in September 2016. I applied for a F1 status (student) and got denied this month, I'm still on my J1, I'm wondering if I can apply for B2 (tourist) before my J1 expires. Thank you!

You could request another change of status so long as you have maintained your J-1 status through the duration of your stay. However, given you were previously denied a change of status, you may need to be prepared to deal with the grounds of denial in your second truest for a change of status. How much the previous denial will impact the second request for a change of status will depend upon why the first request was denied.
