I'm in the US on an F2 visa as a dependent with my husband who is on F1 visa. My husband got his H1-B visa approved with a change of status on May 26, 2020. I applied for change of status from F2 to H4 which is supposed to take 6-9 months of processing time. Hence, there will be a gap between the termination of my F2 status and H4 application approval. Do I need to do anything to cover this gap? Thanks
Although there is much comment that nonimmigrants should maintain a valid nonimmigrant status during the time that they are applying for another nonimmigrant status with U.S.C.I.S., I do not believe that that would apply to your situation in which both you and your husband filed H-1B/H-4 applications at the same time. I do not believe that you are required to do anything.
