Change of visa status within the US

More details to this question:
I have a valid b2 visa for 10 years. Right now I was on an f1 visa and my grace period is about to end in a month. Can I change my visa Stuart from f1 to b2 without leaving he country as I'd like to visit and stay for another month with my sister who is pregnant. Can this be done or do I have to leave the country and renter ?

You may request a change of status to B-2 without leaving the country. You need to file Form I-539 with USCIS prior to the expiration of your current status.
