I am currently a student in his last semester with a F1 visa. I already have some opportunities for Grad School and will probably be applying for my F1 gor grad school this summer. Just recently I was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication, my court date is in two weeks. My question is, if I just plea guilty and get over with the fines, could the record of “Public Intoxication” be a problem when I apply for my F1 for graduate school. In other words, can I get my second F1 visa rejected or entry denied because of this? Thanks in advance!
One charge of public intoxication would probably be okay, but a history of more than one could be problematic for visa issuance. Consuls have been known to take intoxication very seriously and deny cases on health-related grounds that the person has a mental disorder and behavior associated with the disorder that may pose, or has posed, a threat to the property, safety, or welfare of the individual or others.
