More details to this question:
Due to Covid 19 my employer lost clientele and I've been temporarily laid off for that reason. I have a letter from my employer stating so and inviting me to come start again as soon as covid related restrictions are eased. This is just when I'm about to send the I-864. Will marking "unemployed" in the form and submitting this explanation with this employer's letter attached allow me to be approved? I'm a US citizen petitioning my wife and well above poverty guidelines.
You are in the same situation as many people in this country. You should be able to submit the I-864 form even marking down "unemployed" and attaching the explanation and the employer's letter. The U.S.C.I.S. officer or consular officer (if your wife will be interviewed overseas) will look at all the circumstances in determining whether your wife meets the public charge requirement.
