Do I need a permit to work before I get my residence card renewed?

My residence card has been expired for 2 months and I just renewed it but do I still need a permit to work?

It depends on what type of green card it was. Was it a conditional 2 year green card or a permanent 10 year one?

No. You are a still a Resident of the US, even if your card is expired. You do not need a work permit.

By definition, a green card (lawful permanent residence) automatically is proof of permission to work.
