QUESTION

Do I need to do a new medical exam?

Asked on Oct 12th, 2013 on Immigration - Washington
More details to this question:
I have completed immigration medical form I-693. However it have not yet sent any of my green card application papers in, all I did was visit a civil surgeon for the medical exam as I got the shots and everything I needed. If I was traveling outside of the country, when I come back and submit all my paperwork, will they ask me for a new medical exam since I left after I completed the I-693 and then came back?

The medicals are valid for 1 year so you should be fine as long as it was performed within a year of you filing for the green card.

The I-693 is completed by the civil surgeon, not you. You will need to enclose the sealed envelope containing the medical exam with your adjustment of status application.

Medical exams in the U.S. are valid for up to 1 year. The fact that you left the country and returned will not have an effect on the medical exam's validity.

Chances are, you may have to do the exam again because it is valid for six months only.
