QUESTION

Does my husband and I need to submit separate affidavit of support forms when applying a visa for my daughter?

Asked on Jan 03rd, 2014 on Immigration - Texas
More details to this question:
I am a permanent resident and filed for my daughter to get her visa. I am now in the process of filling out the affidavit of support form. However I am unemployed. My husband is gainfully employed and we file tax jointly. He is not my daughter's father. Would we both have to submit different affidavit of support forms for her or just one form?

Each sponsor will execute an affidavit of support. Since you are the principal sponsor, you must also execute an affidavit of support even if you don't have sufficient income and another person will co-sponsor your daughter.

You both need to submit different forms. As the sponsor, you are required to file an I-864 affidavit of support form regardless of your employment status. Your husband will need to file an I-864A form as the household member of a sponsor.
