Does obtaining your MD degree here grant you US Citizenship?

More details to this question:
I am dating a foreign doctor. He got is MD license here in the US. He is in his last year of residency as a doctor. I want to make sure that he wants to be with me for me and not for US Citizenship.

Obtaining a medical or any other degree in the U.S. does not automatically qualify someone of citizenship or legal residency.

No, getting a medical degree in the US does not automatically grant US citizenship or any other type of lawful status.

It's not a guarantee. He would need some path for a visa. For example, if a hospital sponsored him for an H1B, he could stay in the USA under that visa.

The simple answer is "No." Your doctor friend must obtain his legal residency before he is eligible to become a United States citizenship.

No, not automatically. But he may be able to get the green card in some instances through employment as a doctor.
