QUESTION

E2 visa expired, can I get a Green Card?

Asked on Apr 18th, 2016 on Immigration - Arizona
More details to this question:
Having lived in the USA 9 years (L1-B to E2 from the UK), the company I worked for was sold. My E2 visa tied to the company was immediately void. I have filed a I-539 change of status to a B2 tourist and the application is still pending. My question is having worked legally in the USA for 9 years is there route to permanent residency? I have no family residing in the USA.

There is no direct path to a green card because you worked in the United States for nine years. You would need to be the beneficiary of an employment-based or family-based immigrant visa petition in order to obtain a green card. The only avenue that would allow you to self-petition would be if you could establish extraordinary ability or through investment.
