Green card birth certificate question

Asked on Nov 25th, 2015 on Immigration - Illinois
More details to this question:
Hi - I'm a Chinese citizen, working in Chicago with a H1B visa. I got married to a US citizen in August 2014 (we are in a same sex marriage) and we had tried to file my application for green card but couldn't proceed as my parents have my birth certificate in China and have been reluctant to give it to me as they disapprove my marriage. Last month, they finally sent me a picture of the birth certificate, with my mom's name, my name, birth place and birth date. They are all in Chinese, however. Questions: Can I have any translation organization or agencies here in the US (preferably in Chicago) to translate the certificate in English and attach the copy of birth certificate picture to include in my application? Or do I have to go back to China to get it notarized? I'd more than happy to have a phone conversation if it's easier. Please let me know. Thank you for your help!

You may submit a copy of the birth certificate with a certified translation to file the application, but you will need to produce the original or certified copy at your interview. I would encourage you to contact the Chinese Consulate to see how you can obtain a certified copy of your birth certificate.
