Hi, I would like to ask about the possibility of transferring H-1 status. Let say I filled my H-1 for area of expertise of Software Engineer, and I want to transfer my H-1 into area of expertise of Mechanical Engineer. Is it possible to do that? (Additional info: my Master's Degree is actually Mechanical Engineering, right now I do not have option to stick a while for Software Engineer) Thank you, Ignatius Yulianto

Your new H1B employer can file for you in a differ specialty occupation assuming you are qualified and the position requires the qualifications.
